The Company

Our Story

Creta Academy was conceived out of a shared vision to furnish the children and youth of today with the necessary skills and mental fortitude to tackle whatever life has in store for them. To facilitate character growth, we believe that beyond excelling academically, a well-rounded education with focus on socio-emotional skills, building confidence, and encouraging independent thought is key.

When we met as classmates at a Counselling and Psychology Specialist Diploma course, it was with the goal of using our newfound knowledge to serve the community, particularly in the mental health department. United by the shared conviction that good mental health practices should start with the young, we came together to start Creta Academy.

The four of us, Bernard Columba, Swathy Balagopal, Jessica Tea, and Vanessa Chan, newly minted counsellors with our individual skill-sets of human resource management, business management, creative pedagogy methodology, and design thinking skills, hope to start a movement that would empower students to grow holistically in all aspects of their lives.

3 Bespoke Categories

Split into 3 categories – academic, social skills, and recreation, we offer bespoke courses sourced from the industry’s best, taught by reputable trainers, all offered over one intensive week. The beauty of Creta Academy is that your child’s holistic growth doesn’t stop after the program; we personally track and follow up with each student for 6 months to ascertain that they are still practicing what we have instilled in them.

Partner with us

To ensure that each child maximizes the benefits of our program, we ask that their parents partner with us at home by upholding the values of our program. Parents can help by supporting their child’s socio-emotional development and encouraging them on their journey to cultivate healthier new habits.

Here are a few useful articles on how parents can nurture their child’s mental health development.

About our name and logo

Logo with tagline
Creta is Latin for chalk or clay, which reflects our view that children are especially malleable, with infinite potential to be moulded like pottery into the best versions of whatever they choose to be. The bowl in our logo is based on the idea of Kintsugi, the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold, making the finished piece even more valuable than the original. It paints a beautiful and hopeful imagery of how we can reframe personal adversity; it’s a reminder that our perceived imperfections can be our strengths.

Vision

To nurture exceptional children and youths who stand out from their peers.

Mission

We believe that each child and youth is exceptional, especially if given the chance to nurture their full potential. Through specially tailored academic, recreational, and socio-emotional skills centred programs, we ensure that every child under our wing receives the enrichment they need to excel in all aspects of their lives.
