Academic enrichments

We’ve carefully selected some tools and exercises designed to help children enhance their learning and ensure their academic excellence. The following techniques are tried and tested ways that will elevate your child’s performance.

Our aim is to help students become independent, effective learners. Your child will walk away from the program having learned cognitive self-regulation and be intrinsically motivated to learn.

Mind Mapping

A mind map is a tool that visually captures the hidden thinking that goes on mentally. Mind mapping allows young learners to consolidate and collect knowledge as well as remember and create ideas. It is a visual way to organize and learn information. It’s also used to break down complex information, memorize information, and see the connections between different ideas. Mind maps make information easier to process by organizing it logically, making it an effective way for students to take notes.

Memory Enhancement

We use a variety of techniques to sharpen long and short-term memory. We encourage children to practice visualization; to create a picture in their mind of what they’ve just read or heard. For example, let’s say your child is tasked with setting the table for five people. Have your child imagine what the table should look like, and then draw it. As they get better at visualizing, they can describe the image instead of drawing it.

Mnemonic strategies are another thing we will cover. Think of them as effective memory tips; they can make it easier to remember facts, and they can be applied to almost any subject. For example, we can remember the planets of the solar system by this formula – My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Noodles

Speed Reading

Students have lots of information to process in a very short period. Whether they are trying to internalize chapters of text or sitting for an exam, their reading speed and comprehension will determine their results. It has been statistically proven that the faster you read while retaining important information, the better you’ll do.

Speed reading is the process of rapidly recognizing and absorbing phrases or sentences on a page all at once, rather than identifying individual words. Most children read at an average rate of 150 words per minute (wpm), though some are naturally quicker than others. The ability to speed read could double this rate.

Speed Mathematics

Speed math is the key to becoming a math whiz-even if your child has struggled with math in the past. Believe it or not, they can perform lightning-quick calculations that will astonish their friends, family, and teachers. We will teach them to master multiplication tables in minutes and learn basic number facts while doing it. While their peers  are still writing down the problems, your child will be calling out the answers. With our partnership with IXL, an award-winning personalized learning platform, your child will get to practice math in a fun environment by playing challenging games.
